Forestry engineer (1979) and MsC in forest science (1986) by Universidade de São Paulo (1979), and PhD at Botany from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (1994). Pos-doc in Phytogeography of Cerrado at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, Scotland. At present is a researcher and member of the Scientific Council of the Instituto de Pesquisas Ambientais of São Paulo state, and associate Professor in postgraduate courses of Forest Science (UNESP-Botucatu) and Ecology (UNICAMP). Member of the Editorial Board of the international journals Restoration Ecology, Journal of Ecology and Applied Vegetation Science. Founding member of the Brazilian Society for Ecological Restoration - SOBRE. My researches have been focused on Ecology, Conservation and Restoration of Cerrado and Atlantic Forest. Included among the most influent (most cited) scientists in the world in 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023, and finalist for the Ester Sabino Award for Women Scientists of the State of SP (2022).
