Full Professor at the Escola Politécnica of the University of São Paulo (EPUSP) since 2010, in the field of Applications and Principles of Mechanical Engineering. Livre-Docente (Habilitation) in Fluid Mechanics (EPUSP, 2002). PhD in Aerodynamics from the University of London (1993), DIC Diploma of Imperial College in Aeronautical Engineering (1993). MSc in Mechanical Engineering (EPUSP, 1989). BSc in Physics (IFUSP, 1989). Civil Engineer (EEM, 1984). Elected Full Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC, 2024) and of the São Paulo State Academy of Sciences (ACIESP, 2017). Research Productivity Fellow of the Brazilian National Research Council (CNPq) Level 1A.Consultant in the areas of Fluid Mechanics, Hydrodynamics, Aerodynamics, Flow-Induced Vibration, Bioengineering, and Aeroacoustics. Currently, Full Professor (MS6) at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of EPUSP. Former Research Associate at the Department of Aeronautics, Imperial College (UK). At EPUSP, develops research in numerical methods applied to transport phenomena and experimental fluid mechanics. Specialist in aerodynamics and hydrodynamics of bluff bodies, vortex shedding, flow-induced vibration, vortex-induced noise, and computational fluid dynamics.Scientific Director of the Research Centre for Greenhouse Gas Innovation RCGI (FAPESPShell). Founder of the Computational Fluid Dynamics Laboratory (CFD Lab) and the Laser Anemometry and Fluid Dynamics Laboratory at EPUSP. Member of the Fluid Dynamics Group (NDF), registered at CNPq. Author of more than 160 publications in international journals, book chapters, and national and international conference proceedings. Has coordinated numerous research and development projects sponsored by Petrobras, Shell, Embraer, FAPESP, Finep/CTPetro, CNPq/CTPetro, TotalEnergies, Petronas, Voith-Siemens, CTG, British Petroleum (BP), Oxiteno, BG Group, Repsol, Eneva, among others.Organizer (Chairman) of the 5th Conference on Bluff Body Wakes and Vortex-Induced Vibrations BBVIV5 (2007) and of the IUTAM-ABCM Symposium on Laminar-Turbulent Transition (2014). Member of the Scientific Committee of BBVIV. Consultant to Brazilian funding agencies FAPESP, CNPq, CAPES, and FINEP. Reviewer for the CAPES Triennial Assessments (20072009 and 20102012) and Quadrennial Assessments (20132016) of Engineering III. Member of the Advisory Committee (CA) of CNPq in Mechanical, Naval, and Aerospace Engineering (20192022).
