Abstract

The work searching to optimize of analytical methods for application of metallomics in thedevelopment of potential biomarkers of mercury toxicity in liver tissue samples of fish collected in the influence area of Hydroelectric JIRAU - Madeira River basin, Rondônia/Brasil. To achieve this primary objective, the project brings together a multi-institutional team engaged in optimizing of: electrophoretic procedures in 2D-PAGE for fractionation and identification of proteins responsible for the mercury transport in fish samples collected in the reservoir AHE JIRAU - Madeira River Basin; methods for mercury quantitative evaluation in protein spots obtained in the proteins fractionation by 2D-PAGE and proteins characterization carriers mercury by MALDI-TOF MS. The proposed work will provide technical and scientific grants in the health and environment areas of extreme importance, enabling the development of monitoring protocols applicable to hydropower plants in the Amazon region.
