Abstract Coupling between mechanical modes of vibration and electromagnetic modes in micro-cavities allows one to amplify or dump thermal vibrations present in these cavities. The amplification regime is of great technological interest since these cavities may operate as radio-frequency optomechanical oscillators, with oscillation frequencies up to the GHz scale. In this dissertation we will explore this regime of oscillations and the possibility of synchronizing two distinct cavities through a strictly optical coupling. | |
