Abstract

Recent studies have used low-level laser therapy and light-emitting diode therapy to increase muscle performance in experimental models as well as in randomized clinical trials. This current study has the perspective of detailing the effects of these therapies on muscle performance in vitro, experimental models and clinical trials to elucidate all of main mechanisms of action on skeletal muscle submitted to strength exercises or fatigue exercises. Among all possible mechanisms, we highlight the gene expression analysis (human genome) by microarrays. In addition, were proposed randomized clinical trials with young healthy males submitted to strength training or high intensity and/ or treated with low-level laser therapy/ LED therapy. Moreover, experimental models will assess the effects of pre or post laser/ LED therapy on muscles to decrease muscle fatigue. An in vitro study with muscle cell lineage will be performed to identify more mechanisms of action. The set of all these studies will allow a better understanding of these therapies to increase muscle performance that in the future can be widely used in clinical practice. (AU)
