Abstract

The present work intends to contribute with the implementation and readaptation of the wastewater ocean disposal systems from São Paulo coastal zone, establishing criteria as for the necessary wastewater treatment level to a safe ocean discharge, looking for better sanitary configurations in way to guarantee a compatible treatment level with the standard of water quality established in the CONAMA 357/05 legislation. So it will be evaluated different sceneries of projects with different levels and technologies of wastewater treatment plant that can be implemented together with the submarine outfall of Santos and Praia Grande 2, in order to the reduction of the pollutants Termotolerant Coliforms, Amoniacal Nitrogen, Total Phosphorus and Oils & Grease. The wastewater treatment technologies will be selected taking into account, besides the removal efficiency of the parameters mentioned before, the low implementation and operation costs, and operational simplicity. This pathway, the most promising sceneries will be simulated using the software FLUENT through computer modeling techniques, taking into two different environments: environment with low hydrodynamic (submarine outfalls of Santos) and environment with high hydrodynamic (submarine outfalls of Praia Grande 2). So, the wastewater treatment level that assist the standard of seawater quality for class 1 of the COANAMA resolution will be considered able to be implemented with submarines outfall. (AU)
