Abstract

Photography has been the main visual resource for architect's education and, on a more comprehensive approach, for contemporary architectural culture. The Social Networking Project Arquigrafia-Brazil intends to research how the individual and the collective knowledge building processes relate to each other, by sharing subjectivities on interactive and communicative experiences based on an online collective gallery of Brazilian architecture digital images. Considering the absence of such a specific image gallery, organized and opened for public access on the Internet, this project gathers a multidisciplinary research team to work on the design and construction of a social network on the Web 2.0 focused on Brazilian architecture photographs, whose operation dynamics will support the study of knowledge building processes. The network will enable navigation on thematic galleries of architecture images of different Brazilian historical periods and geographic contexts, and also enable interpretation of each picture regarding registry keywords (tags), and conceptual keywords for spatial-plastic qualities. The collective network composed digital image galleries will complement the current visual material on Brazilian architecture, contributing to stimulate architectural visual culture, and to promote interaction between architecture students, teachers, professional architects, and everyone interested in architecture and images.
