From the bench to clinical trials: development of biomarkers as response predictors to therapy and target organs damage in systemic arterial hypertension

Abstract

Trata-se de um projeto inovador na aplicação clínica: individualizando a terapêutica e prevenindo as lesões de órgãos-alvo. Consta de duas partes: uma que dá continuidade às linhas tradicionais de pesquisa da unidade e que cobrem os diferentes componentes que são afetados na hipertensão (neurogênico, metabólico, renovascular, endotelial, genética e biologia molecular), e outro que integra o conhecimento dos diferentes componentes na detecção de biomarcadores a resposta terapêutica e a lesão de orgãos-alvo. Deve ser destacado que o desenvolvimento do projeto de biomarcadores só se tornou viável devido à experiência adquirida pelos grupos nas diferentes linhas de pesquisa. Isso possibilitou a padronização de baterias de testes para serem empregadas em larga escala (300 pacientes) e repetidas 6 e 18 meses após início do protocolo. Também deve ser mencionado que o projeto é viável porque a equipe já demonstrou competência em temáticos anteriores e porque conta com a infraestrutura adequada (laboratório, equipamentos, pessoal técnico e administrativo). Há, naturalmente, solicitação de auxílio para a manutenção da pesquisa nos próximos quatro anos: o material de consumo indispensável e a aquisição de alguns equipamentos necessários para atualização do laboratório.
