Resumo
The agroindustrial residues represent interesting resources for building materials in the actual context of the growing demand for housing in the next decades and the stronger concern for sustainability. Among the different potential applications of these residues, two will be considered in this study: 1) fabrication of particle boards, 2) elaboration of composites inorganic matrix/vegetable fiber. For any material including vegetable fiber, the treatment of the fiber is a fundamental question for material characteristics and durability. For particle boards made with sugar cane bagasse and coconut fiber, evaluation of the durability and performance of particle board exposed to natural and accelerated aging will be studied. For composites inorganic matrix/vegetable fiber, the three following aspects are considered 1) fiber treatment using methane cold plasma 2) matrix modification using pozzolanic materials from agroindustrial wastes 3) composite performance and durability.
