Andreas K. Gombert's main research interest is on yeast physiology and metabolic engineering. Andreas is involved with academic research and teaching at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil. He currently holds a position as Associate Professor within the School of Food Engineering and has acted as a consultant for different companies and institutes, in the field of industrial microbiology. Andreas obtained his M.Sc., Ph.D. and Habilitation (Livre-Docência) from the University of Sao Paulo (USP), Brazil. During his scientific career, he had the opportunity to work with Prof. Jens Nielsen at Denmark's Technical University (DTU), with Prof. Lucília Domingues at the University of Minho (Portugal), and with Profs. Jean-Marc Daran and Jack Pronk at the Delft University of Technology (The Netherlands). At the moment, Andreas' activities involve teaching, supervising students and researchers and coordinating research projects with public and private funding. He is the director of the Ph.D. program in Bioenergy (http://sites.usp.br/phdbioenergy/). Andreas has (co-)authored several scientific articles published in international indexed journals (> 1660 citations; H-index 22; SCOPUS).
