Abstract

Recent measurements of neutrinos have shown that these particles have mass and mix. These discoveries not only have important consequences in different fields of science like Astrophysics and Cosmology, but also open the possibility of precision measurements of the neutrino properties and in particular of the mixing angle Theta_1-3. The present research project proposes the participation of UFABC in the national and international Angra and Double-Chooz Collaborations, which will provide a measurement of Theta_1-3 in Nuclear Power Plants and will apply the experimental techniques developed for this kind of measurements in a program of nuclear safeguard which will develop a further tool to guarantee the non proliferation control.
